Code
your Future
Founded in Paris in 2013, today 42 has more than 15.000 students in 25 countries and is recognized as one of the best coding schools worldwide.
Learning at 42 is entirely free of charge and doesn’t require any academic degree or coding experience. You only have to be at least 18 years old or be a high-school finalist to apply.
The school’s practical approach, based on peer-to-peer collaboration, guarantees both excellent technical training and the development of valuable soft skills, such as the ability to work in teams, problem-solving, adaptation, determination, and resilience.
Studying at 42 is 100% free. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to develop their talents and accomplish their dreams, regardless of their background or economic resources. This is possible thanks to the support of several benefactors who invest in education and ensure that no fees are charged to students before, during, or after the program.
To become a student at 42, you don’t need any experience, diploma, or even coding knowledge. The only requirement is to be at least 18 years old. Of all 42 students in the world, about 50% had never programmed before.
At 42, there are no teachers or books. Learning takes place collaboratively, and completing projects allows you to earn points and pass levels – as if you were playing a game. After learning the basics, each student is free to design their path by selecting projects from the areas that interest them the most.
At 42, there are no classes or schedules, but learning is rigorously done in person. The campus is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days per year, so every student has the freedom – and responsibility – to build their own schedule and work when they are most productive, at their own pace.
Besides learning how to code, students learn to solve problems and overcome challenges. They learn how to learn and become responsible for themselves and others. At 42, students learn by doing. The growing importance of technology across industries is undeniable, but so is the lack of professionals in this area. In Portugal alone, studies show that around 30.000 developers are needed to satisfy industry demand. If you want to build an international career, 42 lets you access job opportunities disclosed to various campuses around the world.
“I founded Codam in 2018. It is a school that is everything but a school, delivering the skills and mindset of the future. Today, everything revolves around technology, and I believe we have a joint responsibility to prepare young people by making them digitally ready. Not only privileged young people but everyone with the will to learn.
I have always been passionate about innovation and technology. I want young people, irrespective of their education, economic background, or financial ability, to have a better chance of maximizing their potential.”
“Social inclusion and equal chances: these are the two fundamental values that went into the creation of 42. Our ambition: let everyone express their talent and answer the needs of the digital economy with innovation and efficiency.
Programming, networks, and security — the shortage of qualified resources has been noted everywhere in the world; tens of millions of talents are actively needed. Our ambition has always been to train the best developers in the world, but today, we are taking it one step further with greater visibility and recognition.
As we launch our international network, we are increasing our educational capacity. Our partner campuses will apply our successful methods to create a real innovation ecosystem — and that’s just the beginning!
Since the world is plural, multi-cultural, and diversified, the 42 Network will contribute to the development of an open and ethical world, without discrimination or boundaries in terms of generation, culture, or geography.”
